Specific Model Forum Guidelines

Specific Model Forum: This is where we cover the majority of topics involving a particular car, truck or SUV, and focus on auto repair, consumer-technical issues and pretty much anything automotive. DO NOT post topics related to the buying, selling or trading of vehicles, parts, services, etc. That's what the Classifieds Forum is there for. Also, if your topic fits one of the other manufacturer specific subcategories, such has Performance Modifications, post the topic there, NOT in the specific model forum.

Example: Trying to fix an oil leak on your own car? Post the topic in the Specific Model Forum for that vehicle. Want to Sell the car because the repair is too expensive? Post an advertisement in the Classifieds Forum of your car's manufacturer. Curious about sport-tuning the suspension with a set of BILSTEIN Struts? Ask a few questions in the brand's Modifications Forum.

Inappropriate language or behavior will not be tolerated in any forum.
Members are obligated to follow all Forum Rules.

2003 Saturn L-300

The A/C front vents do not blow air even though the setting is for air to come through the front vents.

The air comes through the front window vents and side vents.

What could be wrong.

Re: Specific Model Forum Guidelines

Hi Ron:

In the future, please post a new topic with your questions. This post is under an instructional "sticky". Thanks.

Whether you have the standard HVAC system, or climate control, air direction is controlled electronically. The "Mode Door Motor" or "Actuator" is the device that controls which ducts the air is directed to (defrost, A/C or heat). The most common problem is a failure of the mode door actuator itself; however, it can be a bunch of other stuff also (HVAC control module, control head or a break in related circuits).

Accurate diagnosis requires a scan tool (may be trouble codes stored) and a basic run down of power and ground circuits to the actuator.

Hope that helps.
