I have a 2000 chevy impala 3.4 engine. The service vehicle soon warning came on and I can't get it to go off. I drove it on a trip of 85 miles but it still wouldn't go off. I reset the tire and oil monitor, but it still wouldn't go off. The service vehicle soon cannot be checked with a code check there are no codes for that. One of my problems that may be associated with that is, my car lopes or surges between coasting and acceleration. When I speed up the surging stops. Where do I look to remedy this?

You need a scan tool to see what trouble code is turning on the check engine light. Then a repair may be needed before the check engine light can be reset.
After the trouble is found and the problem is fixed then the scan tool can erase the code which is turning on the light which will turn out the light.
If you don't have a scan tool or code reader then you can go to your local Autozone auto parts store or other main part store where they will usually scan the vehicle for free and they will tell you the trouble code which is turning on the check engine light. They can suggest what to do for the repair or you can go to your local certified repair shop or GM dealer and have them check out the vehicle with their scan tool.
