1997 Mercury Grand Marquis no crank

I had a code come up miss fire #5 then on way home check engine started to flash codes then read multiple misfire then went to start the car no crank at all. Couldn't feel relays activating all lights work replaced ignition  switch on column and no one can check ignition control module so  what should I look for to replace, coils first then hunt down the no crank or go the other way and get it to crank at least?

Re: 1997 Mercury Grand Marquis no crank

You can't check the ignition system unless the engine is cranking. Fix the cranking problem first.

Inspect the wiring in the starter relay to starter motor circuit at the starter motor connection. The wire connection can be faulty or corroded as per the service bulletin    TSB 06-19-14 dated 10/02/06 for NO CRANK / STARTER TERMINAL FATIGUE.
