Have 2005 Nissan Altima 2.5 auto trans. Just replaced rear brake pads and adjusted parking brake.
now brake-transmission interlock makes obvious noise when brake pedal is applied.
All works fine but noise was not there prior to brake job.
I found a service bulletin for this problem. I hope this helps.
If you still have the problem then get back to me and we can diagnosis the problem further.

If an applied vehicle exhibits a clicking noise from the A/T shifter area every time the brake pedal is pressed:
When the vehicle is stopped
When pushing the brake pedal while driving.
A Noise Damper Kit (PN 34998-3Z000) is now available to resolve this incident, if it should occur. Refer to the Service Procedure for installation of this kit
Service bulletin is from the Alldata information website,
Thank you for your response. I stopped by a Nissan dealer and spoke to a mechanic. He stated I could order the damper kit for the noisy solenoid. I told him the noise just started at 188000 miles. He said some Altima's had the noise when they were new, that's why they now have the damper kit.
What's weird is that it just started???
I may have to just consider it a coincidence that it happened after working on the brakes! I may have caused a movement when checking the parking brake, maybe I pulled the lever to hard or too quickly to check the adjustment???
Thanks again for your information.
