Re: Lifter replacement

The book time for a professional mechanic to do this repair with the special tools is about 9 hours. Most of the top of the engine has to come off.

If you are not qualified or have the proper tools then it should be left to the professionals.

Re: Lifter replacement

I don't have the special tools for this project or ever attempted a top off on this truck. Who can you recommend to do the repair. If they're in there maybe all of them should be replaced instead of just the defected one.

Re: Lifter replacement

I would take the truck to your local Dodge dealer; they have the best knowledge and special tools to do the job properly.

As of changing the bad lifter; from my experience as a professional mechanic for 27 years changing one lifter is only asking for trouble and another expensive visit to the dealer. Change them all to play it safe. If this were a warranty job they would only approve the faulty lifter.
