air conditioning compressor installation

I need to know how much oil to put in the new compressor i am installing on my 200 chevrolet silverado c1500 pickup

The rule we usually follow is when you remove the compressor drain as much as you can. That is the amount you would usually put back in.

If you don't get any oil from the compressor and need to add oil then add no more than 2oz of oil. Then check the operation of the A/C system for proper cooling and pressures.

Right, drain the refrigerant oil out of the old compressor into a measuring cup. Then (if you don't know the amount in the new unit) drain all the oil out of the new compressor. Then install the amount that came out of the old compressor into the new one (using new oil, of course).
