Hello, I have a 2000 Ford Ranger with 2.5 4 cyl 2wd. When I shift through the gears the engine revs very high
(3000 rpm), when I push in the clutch, even if I push it in and coast the initial reaction is to rev high then level off when I come to a complete stop. I have replaced the Idle Air Control and the Throttle Position Sensor if anyone knows what could be causing this I would greatly appreciate it.

There is a service bulletin on this condition. Replacing the TPS itself may not be enough; it can be a bad electrical connection at the TPS connector. There is a service kit from Ford that will probably fix this condition.

1998-1999 TAURUS SHO
A high idle may occur on some vehicles. This may be caused by a poor electrical connection at the wire harness (-12B637-) to Throttle Position Sensor (TPS).
Splice into wire harness (-12B637-) just after the TPS with TPS Connector High Idle Service Kit. Refer to the following Service Procedure for details.
Verify the concern vehicle exhibits a "high idle" condition when depressing the clutch or shifting between gears for the Ranger or when shifting between Park and/or Neutral for Taurus SHO. If high idle condition is not exhibited, proceed with other driveability diagnostic fix procedures. If condition is present, obtain a High Idle Service Kit (XF1Z-15K607-AA) and proceed by following the instructions found within the service kit.
