1998 Montero sport 3.0 replaced brain (ecu) took it in for smog check ( says not ready) it has about 300 miles on replaced brain runs great... THANKS PHIL
You first need to scan the computer to see if there is a trouble code stored in the memory.
Clear all codes and drive the vehicle for about 50 miles.
You said the vehicle runs good. As long as no other trouble codes come up it should clear up you problem.
THANKS for your reply ...This is a rebuilt ecm Did what you said & no change . The smog print out reads on Continuous Monitors ready . On non- continuous monitors not ready is catalyst , evaporative system , oxygen sensor , oxygen sensor heater , others read not supported .... THANKS
Are you getting this readout from a state inspection or from a scanner print out.
Did the vehicle fail the state inspection or is this readout coming from a repair shop.
If you are having a state inspection or smog test, what state are you having it done.
What was the reason the computer was replaced.
The most common reason a computer is not ready is a bad oxygen sensor.
When you scan the computer look to see if it is in open or closed loop?
If the oxygen sensor heater is bad it will stay in open loop telling the computer it is not ready.
If the motor runs for two minutes or more and it stays in open loop it will probably be a bad oxygen sensor.
If you can follow up with more detailed information we can help you better.
