I have a 2007 G6 GT and my light on dash came on saying to service air bag.
Why did it come on? And what steps do I need to do? Is the dealer my only option?

The AIR BAG indicator lighting up on the instrument panel while the engine is running tells us there's a fault in the Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) System, and a DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) has been stored in the Inflatable restraint sensing and diagnostic module (SDM).
It's going to require a technician with a diagnostic scan tool to read the trouble codes, check for any related technical service bulletins, and accurately diagnose and repair the problem.
A GM dealership is probably your best bet, but a qualified technician at an independent shop should be able to handle the job also.
